Retrieving Account Login Information

Web Browser Passwords

[cite_start]Most modern browsers save passwords for accounts[cite: 1]. [cite_start]Check saved credentials in the browser used on the existing computer[cite: 1]:

  1. Google Chrome:
    • [cite_start]Open Chrome and go to Settings > Autofill > Password Manager[cite: 1].
    • [cite_start]View saved passwords (requires the device login password)[cite: 1].
  2. Microsoft Edge:
    • [cite_start]Go to Settings > Profiles > Passwords[cite: 1].
    • [cite_start]View saved passwords (requires the device login password)[cite: 1].
  3. Mozilla Firefox:
    • [cite_start]Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Saved Logins[cite: 1].
    • [cite_start]View saved passwords[cite: 1].
  4. Safari (Mac):
    • [cite_start]Open Safari > Preferences > Passwords[cite: 1].
    • [cite_start]View saved passwords (requires the Macโ€™s login password)[cite: 1].

Email Account Passwords (If not found in Browser PWs)

  1. Check Existing Email Configuration:
    • [cite_start]Open the email client (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.)[cite: 1].
    • [cite_start]Check account settings for saved passwords and server configurations[cite: 1].
  2. Use Keychain on macOS:
    • [cite_start]Open Keychain Access[cite: 1].
    • [cite_start]Search for the email account and check the password field (requires Macโ€™s login credentials)[cite: 1].
  3. Windows Credential Manager:
    • [cite_start]Search for Credential Manager in the Start Menu[cite: 1].
    • [cite_start]Check under Web Credentials and Windows Credentials for saved passwords[cite: 1].
